Jazz Pope focusses on the idiosyncratic writer and producer Joachim-ernst Berendt’s influential role within the german and international jazz scenes. Assembling a swag of cover art, photographs, music and text, the exhibition particularly explores the wealth of berendt’s landmark “Jazz Meets The World” series (1965–1971) and pieces together its bold attempts to combine jazz with the musics of Europe, Africa and Asia.
