The North Star has historically been used as a tool for navigation to provide direction. Also known as Polaris, the Pole Star inhabits the northern hemisphere skies and is only visible north of the Equator.
The four artists presented as part of North Star/Dark Star reside in the Northern Hemisphere and share an experiential bond with the polar region, an aesthetic sense of place, geographic distance, time and light.
North Star/Dark Star includes works of eminent artist Dieter Roth and renowned Austrian artist Franz Graf, together with two emerging artists from Iceland and Norway, Huginn Pór Arason and Sandra Vaka Olsen.
