Madeline Kidd’s paintings speak of the sensory things that make life more beautiful. All is warm, light, pretty and sumptuously shiny. We are promised more colour, more luxury, more beauty and a bounteous indulgence. It is easy to escape from boredom and from banality when escapism is a purchaseable product. Glistening grabs of chocolate wrappers and Prada Stilettos. The unblemished surfaces of the paintings seduce us and we dissolve into the seamlessness of streamlined form.
