POSTERS FOR EXHIBITIONS AT
THE MUSEUM FÜR GESTALTUNG ZÜRICH

From February 8 until March 1, 2008

The Narrows program begins next year with a survey of posters from The Museum Für Gestaltung Zürich.

The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich has special standards and objectives in the area of exhibition posters. The museum follows an innovative approach in the design of its posters and advertising materials. For each project talented designers are commissioned to devise the visual communication concept. The posters not only illustrate the exhibition themes but also represent a panorama of communicative possibilities and design expressions. Advertising of this kind is a manifestation of visual curiosity and pays tribute to the high aspirations and standards of Swiss poster design, the resulting works of which have been recognized for their excellence. One of the reasons for the intensive discussion with the medium of posters originates in the tradition of the collecting policy of the museum: beside the collections of Design, Applied Art and Graphics, the Poster Collection occupies a focus. The objects are being digitized since some years now and are online accessible through www.museum-gestaltung.ch/collections_online or www.emuseum.ch.
